Madrid visit and Grim Hammers Captain

Recently, I visited Madrid. It is a very nice city. During the two days that I stayed there, I found some free hours and visited the sight-seeings of the city center.

Stone sculpture of Miguel de Cervantes

I think that there are three shops of Games Workshop at the center. I visited one of them and bought the Grim Hammers Captain. It is a very nice miniature, which one final day, will lead my Grim Hammers on the battle board.

The shop, except for warhammer and 40k, has a variety of LotR and Hobbit miniatures also. Many of them are new releases! Not like the shop I had visited in London. One of the tables of the Madrid store is the Goblin town. A very impressive table indeed!

Nazgûls WIP

Those who used the Nine Rings became mighty in their day, kings, sorcerers, and warriors of old. They obtained glory and great wealth, yet it turned to their undoing. They had, as it seemed, unending life, yet life became unendurable to them. They could walk, if they would, unseen by all eyes in this world beneath the sun, and they could see things in worlds invisible to mortal men; but too often they beheld only the phantoms and delusions of Sauron. And one by one, sooner or later, according to their native strength and to the good or evil of their wills in the beginning, they fell under the thraldom of the ring that they bore and of the domination of the One which was Sauron's. And they became forever invisible save to him that wore the Ruling Ring, and they entered into the realm of shadows. The Nazgûl were they, the Ringwraiths, the Úlairi, the Enemy's most terrible servants; darkness went with them, and they cried with the voices of death. — The Silmarillion

Gang of Four

During the last years I have bought five of the nine metal Nazgûls miniatures at a very nice price. One cost me just four euros! Finally, the time has come for them to serve the evil forces on the tabletop. But first, of course, I have to take my brushes in my hands again! On the photo above you see the four of the miniatures on foot. The fifth one, the Shadow Lord had been  painted since 2012. Below you can see the mounted miniatures.

Having visited a couple of towns the last month in Andalusia I took some photos, which I am sharing here:

Vejer de la Frontera was under Moorish control since 711 till 1248, when captured by Saint Ferdinand of Castile. Though it became a Christian town, the Moorish old sartorial habits remained. Till the last century, the local women wore la cobijada, a large black cape, covering their bodies and faces just like the Islamic Yashmak. This is the symbol of the town of Vejer de la Frontera.

Galadriel

The last month I traveled a lot. I visited Portugal and Italy for business reasons. Now, I am back in Spain again. As the weather is still perfect here, I travel around Andalusia. One of the places I have been is Arcos de la Frontera. Recently, this town celebrated the 750 anniversary of the re-population of the city and the introducing of Christianity. That happened in the year 1264, after more than 700 years of Muslim rule! They had a reenactment as well, if someone is interested he can visit the following:

In the meanwhile, I bought some old GW blisters at a very nice price! I also had a gift from a friend, a Mithril, LOTR 'Isengard Orc warrior' 54mm Scale Metal Miniature.

London visit and Grim Hammers!

The last two weeks I spent in England again. This time, I had some free hours and I grabbed the opportunity to visit the center of London. It is far better than the picture I kept in memory from my last visit back in '94.

Hahn/Cock

As you can see below, I walked all over the city center! It took me five hours! I bought some souvenirs and among them the "Grim hammers"! They are amazing warriors! Unfortunately, I didn't find their Captain! Never mind, next time!
